ARTIST’S COMENTS: We dedicate this pole sculpture to our good friend, Petrina who is certainly a “world” citizen. Born in Ghana, raised in Germany and then emmigrated to the US where she became a citizen. Ghana is an African country with it’s southern border on the Gulf of Guinea. It has many rivers and forests – a beautiful place indeed. The red denotes the blood shed for independence, the gold for mineral wealth and green for its rich natural resources. The black star is the symbol of emancipation.
